The businesses below have committed a minimum of $2,500 and up to $10,000 to Belize’s gillnet transition fund. These are businesses (Belizean and International) who recognize the importance of Belize’s marine ecosystems and the need to support a gillnet ban throughout Belizean waters.
These businesses represent diverse business interests that benefit from a healthy and sustainable marine environment in Belize. They include lodges, resorts, transportation companies, outfitters, guides, beverage companies, outdoor manufacturers and sportfishing manufacturers. Each one is making a difference by aligning their business “Return on Investment” (ROI) with their “Social Return on Investment” (SROI).
If you don’t see a business that you believe should be contributing, please reach out to them directly and encourage them to join. We, as consumers, have the ultimate power to choose where to spend our money. Let’s ask businesses that depend on Belize’s resources to be accountable for protecting their precious resources.
August 5, 2019 - The Coalition for Sustainable Fisheries has received a $75,000 matching grant and all donations to the Coalition between July 31, 2019 and December 31, 2019 will be matched with an equal donation effectively doubling all donations and providing $150,000 (USD) to support a country-wide gillnet ban. The generous donors are long-time advocates for Belize's marine environment who wish to remain anonymous.
